Will I Be Able To Transfer?

Ok, I am attending Tallahassee Community College and I want to transfer to Famu for elementary education. I just took a look at the general education requirements for their school and it is not looking too good for me. They want me to take biology, physical science, and earth and space science and at least 2 labs. TCC doesn’t have labs for the science classes they want me to take. Also there are 3 other courses that TCC does not offer which are geometry and some education with clinical work class. If I don’t have all of these requirements and i want to transfer there, will i have to take all of those classes before i apply to the college of education or what? I am so confused, please help!

Since you’re talking about clinical courses, I suspect you’re looking at the degree requirements for FAMU and not their general transfer requirements. In addition, since you are attending a community college in Florida, your community college almost certainly has a transfer agreement of some kind already in place with FAMU.

The reality is that you are probably going to need to work with a transfer counselor at FCC, since they are going to be able to look at your transcript and tell you exactly what you still need to take in order to transfer. Generally speaking, if a university requires courses that your current college doesn’t offer, the university won’t hold it against you; you’ll simply have to take those courses once you get there. But your transfer counselor will be able to help you sort that out better than we can.

Your counseling center is probably very busy right now with new spring semester students, but I would suggest calling first thing on Monday and making an appointment to meet with someone. Good luck.

Beyond Earth The Future of Humans in SpaceEdited by Bob Krone, Ph.D.Beyond Earth: The Future of Humans in Space provides a foundation for space planners and anyone interested in humankind’s next great adventure – the human migration to space. World-class scholars, scientists, engineers, managers, astronauts, artists, authors, and university professors capture the questions that plague our unique circumstance: Why does space matter to us? What can we use it for? How can we get there efficiently? What will ordinary life be like in space? What will our homes be like on the Moon? On Mars? In orbit? Will we play? Will we love? Will we survive? The primary reasons for humans to go permanently to space are for the betterment of humankind and the avoidance of threats to humans on earth. Evidence to support those conclusions is provided herein. Research findings over the past decade show huge benefits to humans and to earth of exploiting the resources and capabilities uniquely found in space. Some predictions and projections will produce paradigm shifts unimagined in 1957 when Russians and Americans began departing earth. Space Sciences, technology and experience makes the next major breakout from Earth to space not only feasible but commercially profitable. This book is science, not science fiction. In the year 2006 we know that humans will live and work in space. Humans have experienced space for forty-five years. The majority of the forty professionals who authored this book have spent their working lives in the global space community. They have produced a systems approach to the Why and the How the next great space adventure will occur and the challenges to overcome. Managers are already planning for translation of this English version into twelve major languages of the world. Sex In Space by Laura S. Woodmansee, author of Women Astronauts and Women of SpaceAs hoteliers design zero-gravity hotel suites for out-of-this-world unions and with the first honeymoon in space already scheduled, this provocative account reveals the truth about romantic rendezvous in Earth’s orbit and beyond as well as the advantages and difficulties of having sex in space. Questions the space agencies are too embarrassed to discuss ? such as Has anyone “done it” in space? What will happen to the first baby conceived in space? and Have astronauts and cosmonauts practiced “docking maneuvers” while in orbit? ? are thoughtfully answered, while science-fiction myths about interstellar intercourse are dispelled. From chemistry to psychology, this exploration runs the reproductive and sexual gamut, from lust and sexual mechanics to conception, pregnancy, and birth in low-gravity situations. The Space Shuttle: Celebrating Thirty Years of NASA’s First Space Plane [Hardcover] Author: Piers Bizony Bookviews by Alan Caruba”…a classic coffee table book, 10.5 x 11.25, 300 pages and filled with 900 color photos. In short, the perfect Christmas gift for someone who is an enthusiast for life and travel in outer space. In the 1980s, on assignment, I had the opportunity to visit the John F. Kennedy Space Center and tour the site where rockets and space shuttles were launched. I saw a shuttle up close and that is to say I saw a vehicle that was the size of a small building and marveled that it could be lifted beyond Earth?s gravity to circle the planet. One can only marvel at the courage of the crews that went aloft and the scientific and technological mastery that made it possible. This book is a keeper!” This superbly designed and lavishly illustrated book marks a special moment in history: the final mission of the space shuttle. Noted space and science author Piers Bizony has put together a retrospective that covers the entire space shuttle program. In addition to covering every space shuttle mission, the book also covers the development and design of the space shuttle, as well as the technical specifications of the vehicle and details of its major assemblies and subassemblies. A full double-gatefold provides a large-scale technical drawing of the space shuttle. Life Beyond Earth

Life Beyond Earth

$24.95

Life Beyond Earth The question of whether we are alone in the universe has intrigued humanity for centuries, and journalist Timothy Ferris presents an extensive look at the quandary in this fascinating and beautifully produced program from PBS. Ferris, as an engaging and inquisitive host, begins by discussing the development of life and the theory of evolution, as what we know about life on Earth could indicate whether it’s possible for life to have developed elsewhere. Showing how scientists would expect life to exist elsewhere, Ferris then devotes his attention in a section entitled “Is Anybody Listening” to explain how radio telescopes are being used in hopes of making contact with intelligent beings beyond our own solar system. Throughout this documentary Ferris finds creative ways to make fairly complicated material easily understandable, and his offbeat approach to serious science is always entertaining and often fascinating. Experts such as scientist and bestselling author Stephen Jay Gould appear briefly in interviews to offer their insights, but for the most part the presentation is astoundingly visual. Ferris wisely opts to show something rather than merely talk about it, and the DVD is filled with startling and beautiful special effects as well as gorgeous footage shot both on Earth and in space. This is an excellent documentary that also happens to be a pleasure to watch. –Robert J.
