Private Space Travel Rockets

Private Space Travel Rockets
Why do you think space travel is important enough to spend tax dollars on it?

If it is really important to do why not let the private sector do it? They should be able to build rockets cheaper and more efficiently. They should be able to put us back on the Moon.

Its more important than war, yet we spend astronomical amounts of money on that noble pursuit.

Realizing Tomorrow: The Path to Private Spaceflight – Author Emeline Paat-Dahlstrom – AUTOGRAPHED by Author “Tighten your seat belt for a wonderful ride of a read that tells the incredible tale of the dedicated people who helped push the throttle forward to make private space travel reality.” ?Leonard David, Coalition for Space ExplorationNearly forty years passed between the Apollo moon landings, the grandest accomplishment of a government-run space program, and the Ansari X PRIZE-winning flights of SpaceShipOne, the greatest achievement of a private space program. Now, as we hover on the threshold of commercial spaceflight, authors Chris Dubbs and Emeline Paat-Dahlstrom look back at how we got to this point.Their book traces the lives of the individuals who shared the dream that private individuals and private enterprise belong in space. Realizing Tomorrow provides a behind-the-scenes look at the visionaries, the crackpots, the financial schemes, the legal wrangling, the turf battles, and?underpinning the entire drama?the overwhelming desire of ordinary people to visit outer space.A compelling story of the pioneers of commercial spaceflight?both American and Soviet/Russian?and their efforts to open the final frontier to everyone, this book traces the path to private spaceflight even as it offers an instructive, entertaining, and cautionary note about its future. The Space Shuttle: Celebrating Thirty Years of NASA’s First Space Plane [Hardcover] Author: Piers Bizony Bookviews by Alan Caruba”…a classic coffee table book, 10.5 x 11.25, 300 pages and filled with 900 color photos. In short, the perfect Christmas gift for someone who is an enthusiast for life and travel in outer space. In the 1980s, on assignment, I had the opportunity to visit the John F. Kennedy Space Center and tour the site where rockets and space shuttles were launched. I saw a shuttle up close and that is to say I saw a vehicle that was the size of a small building and marveled that it could be lifted beyond Earth?s gravity to circle the planet. One can only marvel at the courage of the crews that went aloft and the scientific and technological mastery that made it possible. This book is a keeper!” This superbly designed and lavishly illustrated book marks a special moment in history: the final mission of the space shuttle. Noted space and science author Piers Bizony has put together a retrospective that covers the entire space shuttle program. In addition to covering every space shuttle mission, the book also covers the development and design of the space shuttle, as well as the technical specifications of the vehicle and details of its major assemblies and subassemblies. A full double-gatefold provides a large-scale technical drawing of the space shuttle. Rockets Into Space by Winter, Frank [Paperback]

Rockets Into Space by Winter, Frank [Paperback]

$25.94

Since ancient times, men and women have dreamed of soaring among the stars, but only in this century has that dream been realized. In Rockets into Space, Frank Winter tells the fascinating story of the modern launch vehicle, from the mythological musings of the Babylonians and Greeks to the presentday reality of manned and unmanned space flight. In concise yet comprehensive chapters dense with anecdotal detail, Winter tracks the theoretical formulations and technological breakthroughs that have charted the evolution of rocket propulsion and vehicle design. He pays particular attention to the remarkable contributions of pioneers Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Robert Goddard, Hermann Oberth, Eugen Sanger, and Sergei Korolev, whose genius and vision paved the way for later innovation. He describes the clandestine development of the V2 rocket in Germany, under the technical leadership of Wernher von Braun, and its dramatic impact on postwar rocket research and satellite development in the United States and the Soviet Union. He also chronicles the complex events of the last three decades, which have produced ever more sophisticated rockets capable of launching larger payloads, from weapons to weather and communications satellites. Finally, he surveys exotic propulsion systemsnuclear, electric, solar, photon, laserthat lie on the frontiers of science today but that will shape the spaceflight and space policy decisions of tomorrow. Rockets into Space is an authoritative, entertaining guidebook for all who are interested in the history of space travel. Kids to Space: A Space Traveler's Guide

Kids to Space: A Space Traveler’s Guide

$29.95

Kids to Space: A Space Traveler’s Guide In the interest of getting kids interested in science, math, space, ……..Lonnie Schorer invited 6000 students, in 99 schools in every state in the US and from Canada, to take an imaginary trip to space – each asking 3 questions prior to launch. This resulted in 18,000 questions, answered by 83 experts. So, this is: An art book: there are 146 student illustrations in the book and another 1000+ on the CD/ROM accompanying the book, set to Hawkwind soundtracks. A science teachers textbook: packed with science information in 94 different categories. A reading literacy book: a children’s story, in large font, precedes each chapter – introducing younger children to the material in the chapter in simple everyday terms. A career guide: a mini-bio for each of the 83 experts is included so that kids can see that one doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to participate in the space effort. An adult book: The average adult does not know 85% of the information in the book. It would seem an investigative expedition, where children think about tomorrow, learn techniques for problem solving to reach a goal, explore the unknown and express their visions for the future is, as an educational exploration, as relevant as a land-based expedition. It is essentially the first private citizens guide to space – generated by children. These children are our future explorers, and we need to encourage and reach them now. Kids To Space Special Edition Author: Lonnie Jones Schorer Reading Level: Ages 9-12 Format: Paperback Pages: 384 Includes CD-ROM Publisher: Collector’s Guide Publishing (Apogee Books) Date: 2006
