How World Ends In 2012 : The Countdown to December 21, 2012 begins but do we really care?   by Denish Verma

A couple of years ago, most of the people all around the world were not acquainted with the prophecy advocated to the end of world 2012.

This thought was put forward by the scholars who studied the theory as depicted by the centuries old Mayan Calendar. This Long Count Mayan calendar has lasted for five thousand one hundred and twenty five years and the end of the calendar leads to large number of interpretations from people of different communities.

The most popular belief finds echoes in the answer to the question when will world end? This calendar that is garnering much attention on the worldwide level states how world ends in 2012? It has been depicted by the calendar that the end of world cycle or human existence will come to a sudden end on December 21, 2012- the last date that features on the Mayan calendar.

Is it for real that world is going to end in 2012 and moreover, how world ends in 2012? Well, if observed on a deeper level, it has been believed that the 2012 phenomenon will be comprised of occurrence of transformational events on the concerned date. The December 21, 2012 is regarded as the day end-date or end of world 2012 of 5,125 years long life cycle in the Meso-American Long Count calendar.

Even the diverse astronomical alignments and numerological formulae related to this event that created fear among larger world population has been proposed.

Moreover, the new-age interpretation of this transition on when will world end propose that this date marks the starting time when Earth and the human species that inhabit it may experience a positive physical or spiritual transformation. Contrarily, this thought-process has been proposed by the astrologers and numerologists all around the world.

These people believe that this particular day or date will not result in the end of world 2012 but it may mark the beginning of the new era.
Other theories suggest that the date marks the End Of World 2012 resulting from a natural catastrophe. The different scenarios that have been suggested by the scholars for When Will World End include the arrival of the next solar maximum, Earth’s collision with a black hole, passing asteroid or the planet called “Nibiru”.

This has led some to believe that this end of the world scenario will play out in a manner that has something to do with something from beyond this world. While this correlation to something that is going on in outer space is not a definite thing, for some it comes from a basic understanding of Mayan culture and their unique understanding of astronomical phenomena and planetary alignments.

While there is no definite proclamation about How World Ends In 2012, the scholars who have studied this calendar claims that long count calendar was created on the beliefs and astrological predictions by the Mayan people. At the same time, scholars from various disciplines have dismissed the idea of occurrence of cataclysmic events on December 21, 2012.

Creating Space

Creating Space

Creating Space The Story of the Space Age Told Through ModelsThe Heavens – and trying to get there – have always intrigued man, and have been included in our artwork throughout all of history. In recent years they have been the subject of countless books, articles, radio and television shows and films, and have more and more featured the practical method of achieving these dreams – Spaceships. Creating Space takes us on a journey through the history of the space age, up to the present and beyond. From the advent of the “space race” with the V-2 rocket of World War II to the International Space Station and the future, a complete and detailed chronicling of vehicles is given, side by side with pictures and details of models that depict the multitude of aircraft and spacecraft developed throughout the world. In addition, extensive appendices provide details of all of the space-related models ever made and the many manufacturers and distributors who have supplied them – all in the words of an experienced professional insider. Mat Irvine worked in the BBC Visual Effects Department for 20 years, contributing to many projects including Doctor Who, Blake’s 7, Edge of Darkness, the various NASA flights, and many science and space-oriented documentaries and programs. Creating Space is presented in 12 chapters which logically group together the history, the vehicles and the models into logical and meaningful categories. Sex In Space by Laura S. Woodmansee, author of Women Astronauts and Women of SpaceAs hoteliers design zero-gravity hotel suites for out-of-this-world unions and with the first honeymoon in space already scheduled, this provocative account reveals the truth about romantic rendezvous in Earth’s orbit and beyond as well as the advantages and difficulties of having sex in space. Questions the space agencies are too embarrassed to discuss ? such as Has anyone “done it” in space? What will happen to the first baby conceived in space? and Have astronauts and cosmonauts practiced “docking maneuvers” while in orbit? ? are thoughtfully answered, while science-fiction myths about interstellar intercourse are dispelled. From chemistry to psychology, this exploration runs the reproductive and sexual gamut, from lust and sexual mechanics to conception, pregnancy, and birth in low-gravity situations. The Conquest of Space

The Conquest of Space

$23.95

The Conquest of Space by David Lasser with a new introduction by Sir Arthur C. ClarkeDavid Lasser stands as one of the least-known but extraordinary pioneers of spaceflight. In 1930 he founded the American Interplanetary Society – the same year he wrote this book – the first book ever written in the English language to address the notion of spaceflight as a serious possibility. This book has not been in print since 1931 and yet it still stands up to scrutiny. The lucid style with which Lasser explains the basic concepts of rocketry make it a delight for anyone to read. Only a handful of errors creep into the text and all of those were based on the best information available at the time. The Conquest of Space is a milestone work of spaceflight literature and was state of the art in 1931. No space enthusiast’s library is complete without it. Here is what Sir Arthur C. Clarke had to say about The Conquest of Space… “My encounter with The Conquest of Space, soon after its publication in 1931, was one of the turning points in my life, and I suspect, not only of mine” FEATURES: Hardcover: 192 pages Publisher: Collector’s Guide Publishing Inc (September 1, 2002) Language: English Book Dimensions: 9.8 x 6.8 x 0.9 inches

Kids to Space: A Space Traveler's Guide

Kids to Space: A Space Traveler’s Guide

$29.95

Kids to Space: A Space Traveler’s Guide In the interest of getting kids interested in science, math, space, ……..Lonnie Schorer invited 6000 students, in 99 schools in every state in the US and from Canada, to take an imaginary trip to space – each asking 3 questions prior to launch. This resulted in 18,000 questions, answered by 83 experts. So, this is: An art book: there are 146 student illustrations in the book and another 1000+ on the CD/ROM accompanying the book, set to Hawkwind soundtracks. A science teachers textbook: packed with science information in 94 different categories. A reading literacy book: a children’s story, in large font, precedes each chapter – introducing younger children to the material in the chapter in simple everyday terms. A career guide: a mini-bio for each of the 83 experts is included so that kids can see that one doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to participate in the space effort. An adult book: The average adult does not know 85% of the information in the book. It would seem an investigative expedition, where children think about tomorrow, learn techniques for problem solving to reach a goal, explore the unknown and express their visions for the future is, as an educational exploration, as relevant as a land-based expedition. It is essentially the first private citizens guide to space – generated by children. These children are our future explorers, and we need to encourage and reach them now. Kids To Space Special Edition Author: Lonnie Jones Schorer Reading Level: Ages 9-12 Format: Paperback Pages: 384 Includes CD-ROM Publisher: Collector’s Guide Publishing (Apogee Books) Date: 2006
