Help me write good science fiction? (Issues with space travel)?
I need ideas and information. I’ve been rolling around thoughts about the spacecraft using nuclear fusion engines, or running on stellar energy (or both). One of my biggest problems is the issue of time; General Relativity really seems to muck things up as far as space travel. What kind of speeds should futuristic spacecraft travel at, and how would it effect time back on Earth and on another world being traveled to? Is it realistically possible for a human to travel to a fairly distant planet (somewhere outside of the solar system) and still be able to return to Earth in the same lifetime, and is there anyway to get around everyone he knew being dead by the time he returned?
